A member of the House of Representatives, representing Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency of Gombe State, Yaya Tongo, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a letter of resignation addressed to his ward chairman in Funakaye Local Government Area of Gombe State, the lawmaker sighted the crisis in the state chapter of Gombe APC as reason for his resignation.
According to him, “The decision of mine was arrived at after the careful observation of the numerous crisis in the All Progressives Congress in our state without resolution in sight.
“All efforts made by well-meaning members of the APC to bring about a peaceful resolution of the crisis continue to meet a brick wall, as some individuals have hijacked all-party machinery and have consistently refused some of us space to actively contribute to the development of the party in Gombe State.
“Worthy of note at the sideline is the exclusion of my person from the last Congress conducted the APC, where a charade was staged by a certain gang of people to the detriment of all well-meaning and founding members of the APC in Gombe State”.
Tongo is a member of the Air Force, Drugs & Narcotics, Aviation, Federal Judiciary, Appropriations, Petroleum Resources (Upstream), Public Relations, and Water Resources committes of the house.
