The Medical Centre of the Federal Polytecnic, Offa (FEDPOFFA) has been stocked with drugs worth N5million to ensure proper medical care for students in the institution.
This was the statement made by the President, Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the institution, Comrade Ojajuni Emmanuel (aka Ojazman) during the SUG week day 2 of the 2017/2018 academic session which was tagged “Back to school” and it took place at the Aluta ground of the school mini campus.
Comrade Emmanuel affirmed series of the administration’s achievements, such as, payment of school fees for the less privilege with about 100 beneficiaries, facilitating the removal of N1000 from the sport levy, a four-day free transport for students during examination period which happens to be the first of its kind, production and distribution of souvenirs to students at all levels.
According to him, “this administration has brought about multiple achievements in this citadel of learning. They include operation no darkness in FEDPOFFA, which eventually led to having street lights at the school mini campus. Also, the renovation of all hostels at both the mini campus and main campus as well as the reconstruction of Moremi hostel into a well equipped lecture rooms towards having a successful night class which can seat over 400 students.
“Having good and reliable representative at National Association of Nigeria Student (NANS) pre-convention at Niger state, Campaign against sexual harassment, prostitution, cyber crime, in conjunction with NANS, having the three Arms of Government in place two weeks after election (first time in history),” he said.
Speaking further, Emmanuel said, “the provision of ultra modern board was first of its kind, quick response to students’ welfare at all time, facilitation of electricity to Ade-Ife hall as promised during our campaign a week after we emerged as well as the purchase of new engines to the coaster buses for easy transportation to the main campus.
He charged students of the institution to always remain committed to their academic activities and urged them to shun cultism, sexual harassment, destructive criticism and gullibility.
The event was climaxed with the union leadership visit to Mariam Oyawoye orphanage home along secretariat road in Offa with series of food stuff, clothing items and some other gift items as part of the SUG week.
