FEDPOLY Ede Students Lament Incessant Armed Robbery Attacks

Students of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, State of Osun have lamented the incessant armed robbery attacks on them and their homes.

According to the students, there have been persistent cases of forceful collection of students’ items at gunpoint, theft, criminal trespasses and disturbance of peace at Odo-eja, Ogeberin, among other areas.

The incessant armed robbery attacks, it was gathered, has been prevailing for over six months.

Some of the affected students have taken to their various social media platforms to register their displeasure on the unabated armed robbery incidents.

Findings revealed that the continued armed robbery and victimisation of residents of the affected areas have truncated night trading, thereby crippling people’s business.

The medium also gathered that the armed robbers and hoodlums have been operating with impunity in the areas.

Speaking with OSUN DEFENDER, the Student Union President of the Polytechnic, Adepoju Zakariyah, confirmed that armed robbers and hoodlums, had for long laid siege to Odo-eja and Ogberin areas of Ede.

Zakariyah said: “The issue has been happening incessantly right from time, but it has been alarming in recent times and we the students are mostly at the receiving end. We demand for all time police patrol at every students populated area”.

A student of Office Technology and Management Department, Folorunso Benjamen said: “Ede is not peaceful like before. There was a terrible robbery around Odo-Eja and the assailants attacked, injured and shot people. They stole cars and many other valuable things.

“Things are not easy for students at the moment.”

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the School, Mr. Sola Lawal, said the security agencies and local hunters were already handling the situation.
