FEDPOLY, Ede Students Shut School, Demand Commencement Of Lectures

Students of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede in the State of Osun have protested against the non-commencement of lectures and other academic activities.

The protesting students, it was gathered, shut the entrance and exit gates of the institution since Tuesday, prevented both human and vehicular movements at both the North and South gates of the institution.

Also, some staff vehicles parked on the campus since Tuesday morning cannot be taken out due the action.

Findings by OSUN DEFENDER revealed that the lingering crisis between the management and the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) was responsible.

The students were armed with placards with different inscriptions, demanding immediate commencement of lectures and other academic activities.

According to the students, since resumption after the reopening of school by the Federal Government, they were yet to receive lectures.

They vowed not to open the gates until their demands are met.

The management had issued a statement on Wednesday morning, ordering all students to vacate the campus with immediate effect.

The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Shola Lawal, said the management was on top of the situation, adding that the issue would be resolved in due course.
