FEDPOLY, Ede SUG Reopens School Gates After 8 Days

 

The Students’ Union Government of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede late Wednesday reopened the shut school gates after eight days of being under lock and key.

The President of the SUG, Ajibade Quazeem, said the decision was taken to give the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) and the management room to resolve their differences and resume academic activities.

Quazeem gave an ultimatum of November 16 for ASUP and management to resolve their differences, vowing that failure to commence lectures would lead to mother of protests on the campus.

He said: “In our bid to support and restore peace and normalcy on campus, we have decided to reopen the gates to the institution and allow vehicular movement to and fro the campus, so that the management and lecturers can have room and avenue to dialogue and discuss.

“We don’t want them to use the closure of gates as excuse. Therefore, we are opening gates for them to resolve their matters between now and Sunday.

“However we are giving the management and lecturers an ultimatum of Monday, 16th of November, 2020 to call for resumption of academic activities, or else there will be mother of all protests. And we can’t predict the outcome of the protest.
