FG Declares May 29 Public Holiday

The Federal Government on Monday declared Wednesday May 29 as Public Holiday to commemorate the inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari And newly elected governors across the federation.

In a statement, the Minister of Interior, Gen Abdulrahman Dambazzau (Rtd) on behalf of the Federal Government wished Nigerians and the newly elected governors successful inauguration.

May 29 commemorates the 20th anniversary of Nigeria’s sojourn into democracy but the date was changed this year to June 12 to recognize the events leading to the freest and fairest Presidential Election in the history of the 59 year old nation.

According to the government, May 29 every four years will serve as inauguration dates for President and Governors whole June 12 will be an annual event replacing the formal date as Nigeria’s Democracy Day.
