The Federal Government on Thursday inaugurated the pilot NYSC Digital Onboarder and Deel Ambassador Community Development Service Group.
The Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare, while inaugurating the service group at the FCT NYSC Orientation Camp, Kubwa, Abuja, enjoined the youth in the country to embrace digital skills that would enable them grow their business career and entrepreneurial capacity to achieve the objective of national aspirations and development.
While expressing his satisfaction at the huge turn out of Corpers for the Pilot Launch of NYSC Digital Onboarder & Deel Ambassador
programme, Mr Dare urged them to realize the importance of digital technology in their quest for jobs and self-improvement to become self- reliant, stressing that, ”2020-2030 is also the Decade of Youth, Digital Technology, Jobs, Enterprise and Intergenerational Leadership.
He explained that, “these are the core components of the new DEEL”, we have put together for the Nigerian Youth and I am here today to invite you to take the DEEL and become the beneficiaries and Ambassadors of the amazing opportunities that ”DEEL” offers to the Nigerian Youth. It is time to mobilize our collective intelligence to achieve our individual aspirations and build the Nigeria of our dreams”.
The Minister stated further that, “the new DEEL has many laudable projects and programmes with different levels of successes and as we pass the TORCH to you as beneficiaries and Ambassadors, I am confident that we will achieve accelerated impact. With her size, structure and spread, NYSC has proven on many occasions, including the massive result achieved with the MDGs that, its the most strategic platform for inclusive and accelerated National Development.”
While emphasizing digitisation as an enabler to employability and building successful businesses and career; Mr Dare opined that ”to create the seriously needed jobs and build successful careers and businesses, every sector of our nation today must incorporate DIGITAL. For this to happen, it has become important, if not compulsory, for every smart Nigerian Youth to build the necessary Digital Skills through hands-on practical methodologies”.
According to him, “What we must do, starting from your orientation camp is to ensure everyone of you acquires an added advantage in a minimum of 10 basic Digital Skills that you can deploy to your places of Primary assignments, Group or Personal CDS and to build your Businesses through DEEL”
In his opening remarks, the Director-General, National Youth Service Scheme, Brig. Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim commended the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration for its dogged determination to empowering the Nigerian youth digitally with a view to ensuring socio-economic development of the nation.
He urged the corpers to key-in to the opportunities being provided by the Federal Government to develop more digital skills that will equip them for future endeavours in life.
