The Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika has said that the countdown clock recently installed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja was part of government’s promise to ensure that the April 19th deadline of reopening the airport is met.
He believes the clock will help to enable contractors working on the runway meet up with the deadline. He said “Work has gone far, it is at an advanced stage, about two point four kilometres have been completed fully remaining less than one kilometre on the final surface and the final surface does not take up to two days to be completed”
The airport was closed down on March 8, 2017 for repairs on the runway which was built in 1982 with a life span of twenty years.
