Girlband, Fifth Harmony was created on the U.S. version of The X Factor after the judges couldn’t afford to let such amazing talents go back home.
Originally the band members were Ally Brooke, Normani, Dinah Jane, Lauren Jauregui and Camilla Cabello, but Cabello left in Dec 2016 to pursue a solo career and since then, she has had great success. It is believed her success as a solo artist influenced the band’s decision to split.
The band announced their split on their Twitter page today. They explained in a lengthy statement that they wanted to “pursue solo projects”.
The band’s break-up announcement on Monday morning followed weeks of speculation by fans.
Band members Ally Brooke, Normani, Dinah Jane, Lauren Jauregui wrote:
“After six years going hard, non stop, we… also realized that in order to stay authentic to ourselves and to you, we do need to take some time for now to go on a hiatus from Fifth Harmony in order to pursue solo endeavors.
“We are all very excited and grateful to be able to take this time to learn and grow creatively and really find our footing as individuals. In doing this we are allowing ourselves to gain new experiences, strengths and perspectives that we can bring back to our Fifth Harmony family.”
