At least five people including a pregnant woman have lost their lives after a Cherubim and Seraphim Church building collapsed at Ija-Ugbo, Arogbo Ijaw town, in the Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident occurred yesterday March 20th. According to reports, the women had gone to the church which was under renovation, to fetch disused wood. The women identified as Morenike Bubuma, Margret Goloba, Mayama Goloba, Kowei Aboa and Dali Gunuboh, who was pregnant, all perished in the rubbles. Four other persons who were in the building when it collapsed sustained serious injuries.
Confirming the incident, the state police command’s spokesperson, Femi Joseph, said the command had begun investigation into the incident while the corpses of the victims had been deposited in a morgue.
