The factional speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Edison Ehie has resigned as a member representing Ahoada East in the Rivers State House of Assembly and also the speaker of a group of lawmakers.
His notice of resignation was contained in a letter dated 29th December 2023 and addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Professor Mahmood Yakubu.
Though the lawmaker did not give any reason for his resignation, he, thanked his colleagues and constituents for the privilege of serving (with) them.
Recall that Edison Ehie was confirmed by a High Court Sitting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital as the authentic Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly.
Edison Ehie is one of the four lawmakers who backed the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, in the face-off between him and his immediate predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
