FLASH: OSPOLY Mgt Bows To Pressure, Releases Students’ Withheld Results After Intense Criticism
Following a series of outcry and intervention from the public, alumni, students, stakeholders of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree (OSPOLY) and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), the management of the institution has finally released the results of four students withheld due to an alleged Student Disciplinary Matter.
OSUN DEFENDER earlier reported that the affected students – Ashiwel Samuel Bamise, Oseni Ige Olaitan, Olutekunbi Jacob and Adebisi Adeyemi Simeon – lamented that they were being victimised by the management for resisting what they described as an “undemocratic process” of appointing union leaders without student input or election, triggering criticism against the management of the institution.
However, after persistent outcry and criticism, the management of OSPOLY on Wednesday released the withheld results of the affected students, enabling them to proceed with their clearance.
Speaking with OSUN DEFENDER, OSPOLY ‘s Director of Protocol, Media, and Publicity, Mr. Bayo Fadeji confirmed that the withheld results have been released.
In an interview with our reporter, one of the affected students, Ashiwel Samuel, confirmed that his results, slongside that of the other three have been released, thanking all stakeholders for their intervention and support.
Samuel said, “I thank God Almighty and my unreserved appreciation goes to all ideological leaders, elders and comrades who stood gallantly with us in this titanic struggle. Also, the effort of all media houses can’t go unnoticed. Our results have been released and I have been called by the institution’s Dean of Students’ Affairs to complete certain registration formalities and proceed for the clearance of my results.”
Another of the affected students, Adebisi Adeyemi stated that, “I have been invited by the institution’s Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dr. Tope Abiola to bring a passport, alongside other academic documents to the institution’s MIS unit to complete the release process of his results and proceed for its clearance.”
