Flood: 10 Dead, 425 Homeless In Kebbi

In Kebbi State, a devastating flood has left over 10 dead, 42 others hospitalised due to an outbreak of diseases aftermath of the recent incident in Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi state.

About 133 houses, farm lands and Silos were also destroyed, leaving hundreds affected residents in Dole Kaina, Malaye and Danawa Communities taking solace in a Primary School.

Accompanied by a delegated authorities in the state to the affected places, NEMA staff led by the Nema Sokoto Head of Operations, Mal. Suleiman Muhammad discovered that outbreak of diseases like Cholera, Malaria and Dermal infections were the major causes that resulted to the dead of some people, with others being hospitalized.

Residents in the area lamented to the assessment team that Increase in volume of river Niger led to the overflow of large amount of water to the riverine areas, more especially floodplains.

However, the federal government has given an immediate directives to the agency as a matter of urgency to provide relief support to the affected victims.
