A male lawmaker, Popoola Simeon Olufemi was on Tuesday named the Chairman, Osun State House of Assembly Committee on Women and Children Affairs.
Popoola, the lawmaker representing Boripe/Boluwaduro state constituency was the Deputy Speaker of the 7th Assembly.
The former deputy speaker is the only opposition lawmaker in the 26-member parliament.
The composition of the committees for the 8th Assembly, was announced during the plenary, by the Speaker, Adewale Egbedun.
The Assembly is populated by only males.
According to Egbedun, the committee chairmen are: House Rules and Business: Adewumi Kofoworola, Industrial Relation: Olayiwola Taofeek, Finance and Appropriation: Fatunmise Saheed, Media and Public Enlightenment: Oladimeji Adekunle.

In another development, Osun State Disability Protection Bill 2023 and Osun State Illegal Mining Prohibition Bill 2023 passed through first reading at the floor of the parliament.
However, the Policy Thrust of Osun State Local Content Bill 2023 was highlighted by Majority Leader, Kofoworola Babajide.
He noted that the bill would help to gather data and help to increase internal generated revenue for the state.He added that the bill would improve the welfare of the citizens.
