Former Oyetola Cabinet Member Dumps APC, Alleges Political Persecution
- Says Party Lacks Skill To Manage Diverse Opinions
Yemi Lawal, former Commissioner for Youth and Sports under ex-Governor Gboyega Oyetola, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress.
Lawal announced his decision in a resignation letter dated June 15, 2026, addressed to the party leadership.
He said the move followed extensive consultations with family, political leaders, associates, and leaders of thought.
The former commissioner cited personal convictions and his future political direction as reasons for leaving the APC, adding that the decision was not taken lightly after careful consideration of his political journey.

Olayemi expressed appreciation for the opportunities and experiences he gained while in the party.
He thanked the APC and its leadership for the privilege of serving and participating in its activities over the years.
However, he faulted the party over what he described as political persecution suffered by himself, some party leaders, and followers.
According to him, “the treatment showed that the APC lacked the required skill to manage diverse opinions on issues.”
