Nigerian rapper and singer, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has doubled down on his controversial statement that fornication is not a sin—clarifying that he no longer identifies as a Christian and now practises what he calls the “religion of love.”

Falz had stirred backlash on social media recently after declaring on X that fornication is not sinful.

The post triggered criticism from both Christians and Muslims, who responded with scriptural references condemning the act.

Speaking in an interview with Arise TV, the entertainer stood by his opinion, explaining that his statement was misunderstood as being made within the context of Christianity.

“I think people would read the tweet and just assume that I meant according to Christianity,” he said.

“I wasn’t really speaking from that perspective. I practice the religion of love. Under that religion, I don’t think fornication is a sin.”

Falz further argued that consensual premarital sex between two unmarried adults causes no harm.

“These are not married people. These are two unmarried people. Willingly. Consensually. Personally, I don’t think there is a problem there,” he added.
