Forum Condemns Attack On APC Members
By Solomon Odenbiyi
Forum of Senior Special Assistants to the governor of the state of Osun has condemned the recent attacks on members of the All Progressives Congress across the state.
The forum accused members of the PDP of harassing and intimidating APC members in Ede, describing it as unbecoming of a party that is truly interested in the enthronement of genuine democracy in the country.
According to the chairman of the forum, Bashir “Post election violence are still going on, PDP members have been attacking prominent members of our party in Ede. Hon Fatoki was recently attacked. Same with Muyideen Lawal whose Father’s house was attacked, the property of Olalekan Yinusa was destroyed. As we speak, there is a threat to the life of former speaker, Adejare Bello.”
Bashir described the act as unbecoming of a party that is truly interested in the enthronement of genuine democracy in the country, imploring security agencies to be alive to its duties by bringing culprits to book.
Responding to the allegation that the APC used federal might to win the rerun, the chairman of the forum stressed that the party never nurtured the intention to rig or use federal might as being insinuated by the PDP and its sympathisers.
He wondered why the PDP was accusing the ruling party of a trade in which it had over the years won laurels in, noting that it would have been needless to have collaborated with the Social Democratic Party as well as evolve a strategy to involve about 20 other political parties, noting that the agreement gave the APC a “ righteous victory” devoid of rancour or violence.
Bashir maintained that “the election was peaceful, credible and was conducted by an independent electoral body and couldn’t have been hijacked by the state government”.
