No fewer than 284 students would be graduating from Fountain University in the State of Osun on Sunday, 14th of January, 2018.
Out of the 284 students, 23 would be graduating with First Class Honours, 107 with Second Class Honours (Upper Division), 128 with Second Class Honours (Lower Division) and 26 with Third Class Honours.
Addressing newsmen on Monday, the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdullateef Usman, said the students are mainly from the college of Management and Social Sciences and college of Natural and Applied sciences.
He stated that the Acting Chairman of Economic Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu would be the lecturer at the convocation event with the topic “Unity And Solidarity Against Corruption In Nigeria”.
Listing the university’s achievements so far, the VC said all the courses in the institution are fully accredited by the National Universities Commission, NUC.
“In the ten years, some of our Computer Science students went to Malaysia to Complete their education based on the linkage programme arrangement between Fountain University and International Islamic University, Malaysia. Also, the first decade saw the university improve in both human and physical facility resources.”
Asked why the institution produced Third Class Graduates despite parents’ huge investment, Abdullateef said such issues cannot be totally controlled as students’ intelligence differ but that the institution would provide extra commitment to students who are academically weak.
Other activities lined up for the event include a quiz competition among secondary schools on Tuesday, an awareness trek around the city of Osogbo on Wednesday, a novelty match and indoor games on Thursday, a Jumat service on Friday and a football match, Alumni day and Award night on Saturday.
