Fountain University Launches Institute of Peace and Security Studies

Fountain University, Osogbo, on Wednesday, officially announced the take-off of its Institute of Peace and Security Studies (IPSS), marking a significant step in the institution’s commitment to addressing contemporary security challenges and promoting sustainable peace within Nigeria and beyond.

The commencement of the Institute’s activities was formally signaled during a courtesy visit by members of the Institute to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim, at her office.

The visit also marked the beginning of full-scale publicity for the programme, as the University prepares to welcome its first cohort of students.

Speaking during the engagement, the Vice-Chancellor expressed confidence in the Institute’s capacity to contribute meaningfully to national and global conversations on peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and security management. She emphasized that the establishment of the Institute aligns with the University’s vision of providing solution-driven education that responds to societal needs.

The Institute is led by Prof. Noah Yusuf, a seasoned academic and expert in peace and security studies. Under his leadership, the Institute is poised to deliver high-quality teaching, research, and professional training aimed at equipping participants with the knowledge and skills required to navigate complex security environments.

The Institute of Peace and Security Studies will offer a range of academic and professional programmes, including Certificate courses, Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Professional Master’s degrees, M.Phil, M.Phil/Ph.D, and Ph.D in Peace and Security Studies. These programmes are designed to cater to a diverse audience, including security professionals, policymakers, researchers, and individuals interested in peace and conflict studies.
