France thrashed by South Africa

French player Guilhem Guirado (d) scores a try in the loss to South Africa 29-26 on the autumn tour on November 10, 2018
The XV of France lost on the wire against South Africa (29-26), Saturday at the Stade de France, opening test-matches in November.

The Bleus led 23 to 9 after a test Mathieu Bastareaud in the 42nd minute before squandering their lead and cash the test of defeat after the siren. They will face next Saturday Argentina and Fiji on November 24.

It is the substitute hooker of the Boks, Bongi Mbonambi, who crucified the Blues well after the siren (80th +4) on a balloon carried. France had already grazed the worst a few seconds before, when referee Nigel Owens had refused a try to Elton Jantjies for a forward pass.

The Blues were about to beat for the first time since 2014 a great nation of the south when Damian Penaud put foot in touch, ball in hand while the siren was going to resonate. They may also regret the test action of Teddy Thomas, with a surplus overshadowed by the winger who could not transmit being tackled by Jesse Kriel, the last defender.

The French led during most of the match, reaching the break 16-9 after the first try scored by captain Guilhem Guirado who surprised the South African defense on a group in the 5 m (37th).

But the Boks came back in the game thanks to an attempt by winger Sibu Nkosi, come to benefit from a mistake by Sébastien Vahaamahina on the dismissal of the Bastareaud test.
