Fraud Allegations: Oyetola’s Ally Olawumi, Information Commissioner Alimi In War Of Words
There seems to be a never-ending political feud in Osun State as Jamiu Olawumi, former Special Adviser on Education, and Kolapo Alimi, the current Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, have engaged in a heated exchange over Alimi’s teaching credentials.
The controversy began when Olawumi, in a Facebook post, dismissed Alimi’s background in education, labeling him a “quack teacher with SSCE” and claiming he was merely a home lesson manager rather than a qualified teacher.
“Kolapo Alimi was a quack teacher with SSCE. He was not a teacher but a home lesson manager. He wouldn’t have been a teacher under our watch,” Olawumi wrote.
His remark quickly drew criticism, with Omotayo Akeem, a former student of Alimi, coming to his defense.
“Kolapo Alimi is my brother. He studied Physics/Mathematics at Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, and he taught me Mathematics between 1992 and 1996. I wonder how the politics of bitterness can make some people become a nuisance,” Akeem stated.

Alimi himself fired back, describing Olawumi’s claim as false, malicious, and a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation. He clarified that he graduated from Adeyemi College of Education in 1992 with an NCE in Mathematics/Physics and challenged Olawumi to retract his statement.
“This post is false, malicious, and a blackmail to further continue your agenda to tarnish my reputation. For your information, I graduated from Adeyemi College of Education Ondo in 1992 with an NCE certificate in Math/Physics. I urge you to take it down and apologize publicly, or meet me in court,” Alimi warned.
Rather than backing down, Olawumi dared Alimi to proceed with legal action.
“I have taken a snapshot of the comments. So go ahead and file the process,” he responded.
The verbal clash has sparked widespread reactions, adding to the ongoing political tensions in Osun State, with many now waiting to see if Alimi will follow through with his legal threat.
