Friendly: Russia Announces Venue For Super Eagles Clash
Russia has confirmed that the highly anticipated international friendly against Nigeria’s Super Eagles will take place at the iconic Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on Friday, June 6, 2025.
The Russia Football Union (RFU), in a statement published on its official website, disclosed the venue as preparations intensify for what will be the first-ever senior-level meeting between both nations.
The Luzhniki Stadium, a historic ground which hosted the 2018 FIFA World Cup final, last saw action from the Russian national team in September 2021 during their World Cup qualifier against Croatia.
The encounter promises to be a major test for both sides, with Nigeria’s Super Eagles using the fixture as part of their build-up for upcoming international engagements.
The Russian side, led by Valery Karpin, will also use the match to gauge the depth of their squad ahead of their clash against Belarus on Tuesday, 10th June in Minsk.
Prior to the face-off in Moscow, the Super Eagles will participate in the Unity Cup invitational tournament slated for May in London.
Eric Chelle’s side will open their campaign against traditional West African rivals, Ghana’s Black Stars, on Wednesday, 28th May.
The tournament also features the Reggae Boys of Jamaica and the Soca Warriors of Trinidad and Tobago.
