The Rivers State governor, Siminialayi Fubara, has suspended the local government committee chairman of the Akuku-Toru local government area, Otonye Briggs.
This was contained in a statement on Tuesday by the governor’s chief press secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.
Chukwudi said Briggs had been suspended with immediate effect.

No reason was given for the suspension of Briggs.
The governor directed Bitebobo Nelson Amieye, to immediately take over as the caretaker committee chairman of the council.
Fubara ordered Briggs to hand over all council property in his possession to the new chairman.
