Galadima’s Allegations Against Gov Yusuf, DSS False, Malicious – Kano Govt
The Kano State Government has condemned claims by Buba Galadima against Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Department of State Services (DSS), describing them as false, malicious, and politically motivated.
Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, said Galadima’s accusations that the governor and DSS were suppressing opposition voices were “outright false and politically contrived.”
“These are nothing more than a desperate attempt to malign the integrity of the governor and sow discord within Kano State,” Waiya said.
The commissioner noted that similar allegations surfaced shortly after Governor Yusuf joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pointed out that Galadima’s remarks came after his removal as Chairman of the Board of Kano State Polytechnic.
He emphasised that the removal was based on administrative performance and competence, not political persecution.
Waiya also dismissed claims that the state government directed security agencies to intimidate political opponents.
“Any suggestion that the Kano State Government controls or manipulates federal security institutions is incorrect and deliberately deceptive,” he said, stressing that the DSS and other security agencies operate strictly within the law.
While reaffirming the administration’s openness to constructive criticism, the commissioner warned against spreading false information capable of disturbing public peace. “Freedom of expression does not extend to defamation, incitement, or deliberate falsehood,” he said.
He added that opposition figures continue to operate freely in the state and that media and civic activities remain unhindered, contrary to what he described as an alarmist narrative.
Waiya concluded by reiterating the government’s commitment to democratic principles, the rule of law, and peaceful coexistence, pledging continued support for security agencies in protecting citizens’ rights and maintaining law and order.
