Game of Thrones Season Finale Ratings: Here’s What ‘The Dragon and The Wolf’ Has to Top
  • PublishedAugust 27, 2017

The upcoming “Game of Thrones” Season 7 finale, “The Dragon and The Wolf,” will likely be the series’ most-watched episode to-date. Even if it falls shy of the big Nielsen numbers that have been pouring in lately, the not-yet-leaked 67th episode in series history will surely be “Thrones’” top season finale yet.

But what will it have to best just to get there? Thus far, the show’s largest season finale audience tuned in last year, when Episode 60 hauled in 8.889 million “live” total viewers. Piece of cake.

The “Game of Thrones” season finales descend backwards from that high-water mark, with Season 1’s Episode No. 10 having landed just 3.041 million overall audience members way back in 2011. Each subsequent season-ender rose from there.

Here’s what each existing season finale has done thus far:
Season 1: 3.041 million total viewers
Season 2: 4.202 million
Season 3: 5.393 million
Season 4: 7.093 million
Season 5: 8.112 million
Season 6: 8.889 million

Last Sunday’s penultimate 70 minutes hauled in 10.236 million total viewers — so, yeah, you’ve been put on notice, Season 6 finale record.

“Game of Thrones” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
