The football team of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, defeated its counterpart, the University of Ibadan (UI), in the 2024 Games Exhibition held on Tuesday.
It was learnt that the match came to life by 4 pm while the match was eagerly anticipated by fans of both universities at the New Stadium (AWO), UI.
The breakthrough came in the second half when the OAU Giants unleashed a flurry of attacks on the UI Pioneers’ defense.
The Giants continued to dominate the game, leaving the UI Pioneers struggling to keep up with their pace and intensity. With just minutes left on the clock, the Giants struck again, sealing their victory with a second goal and securing a well-deserved 2-0 win.
However, the first half of the game saw both teams evenly matched, with neither side managing to break the deadlock. However, as the second half commenced, it became evident that the Giants were determined to seize control of the game. With relentless pressure and impeccable teamwork, they swiftly took charge of the proceedings.
As the final whistle blew, the cheers of jubilant fans echoed across the stadium, celebrating yet another memorable victory for the OAU Giants.
