Ali Bukar Dalori has assumed office as the acting national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje.

Ganduje tendered his resignation on Friday.

Speaking on Monday in Abuja during the National Working Committee’s first meeting since Ganduje’s departure, Dalori urged party members to avoid actions and words that could cause division.

He said his appointment followed the resignation of Ganduje and the directive of President Bola Tinubu.

“We are all aware of the significant contributions Dr Ganduje made during his tenure,” Dalori said.

“Since his assumption of office in August 2023, he provided our party with experienced leadership, steadfast commitment, and a clear sense of direction.

“On behalf of the entire APC family, I express our heartfelt gratitude to him and wish him full recovery and strength as he focuses on his health and personal well-being.”

Dalori said his appointment was not a personal victory but a responsibility that comes with high expectations from the party’s members and supporters.

He pledged to lead with “transparency, inclusiveness, and unity of purpose”.

“This is a period for consolidation — not conflict. For maturity — not division. And for vision — not personal ambition,” he said.

Dalori added that the party must begin early preparations ahead of the 2027 general election by strengthening its internal processes and reconnecting with the grassroots.

He reaffirmed the APC’s support for Tinubu and described the Renewed Hope Agenda as a roadmap that addresses challenges in the economy, security, and national cohesion.

“The APC remains the political vehicle to drive this transformation, and we will stand by the president in full loyalty and partnership,” he said.

He called on party members and stakeholders to remain united and avoid divisive rhetoric, adding that a roadmap will soon be unveiled to guide the party during the interim leadership period.
