Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State on Friday joined royal fathers, dignitaries and the people of Ijesaland to witness the coronation of the 41st Owa Obokun Adimula, Oba Adesuyi Haastrup Ajimọkọ III.

Addressing the gathering at the colourful ceremony held in Ilesa, Governor Adeleke paid glowing tribute to the late Owa, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, describing him as a pillar of wisdom and a builder of modern Ijesaland.

He said the late monarch’s contributions to traditional institutions and socio-economic development would not be forgotten in a hurry.

Turning his attention to the new monarch, Governor Adeleke described Oba Haastrup as a man of honour, vision and loyalty.

He recounted how the royal father served as Deputy Governor to his late brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, the first civilian Governor of Osun State.

According to the Governor, the new Owa stood by the late Adeleke during critical moments and showed unwavering commitment to the administration.

Governor Adeleke also used the occasion to highlight ongoing development projects in Ilesa under his watch, including the transformation of the General Hospital into a teaching facility for the University of Ilesa, the completion of the Ereja-Brewery dual carriageway, and reforms in the mining sector to curb illegal operations and protect host communities.

He reaffirmed the government’s readiness to partner with the Owa-in-Council to further the growth and development of Ijesaland.
