Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has reappointed Prince Samuel Adebayo Adegbola as the Eleruwa of Eruwa, years after his deposition.

The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade.

Adegbola, who previously held the position for 21 years, was installed in 1998 but removed following a Supreme Court ruling on 29th November 2019.

His reinstatement follows the dismissal of Suit No. HER/10/23 by the High Court of Oyo State on 22nd October 2024, which left the stool vacant.

Oyelade disclosed that Adegbola was chosen after a rigorous selection process, with the kingmakers of Eruwa unanimously selecting him from the Akalako ruling house as the sole candidate.

“In light of the circumstances surrounding the succession, it is important to note that the Laribikusi Ruling Quarters failed to present candidates within the stipulated timeframe, as specified in Section 15(1) of the Chiefs Law Cap 28 of Oyo State,” Oyelade stated.

He further explained that Governor Makinde exercised his discretion in recognising the Akalako Ruling House as the next in line to nominate a candidate for the Eleruwa stool.
