The governor of the state of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola, thousands of admirers, supporters and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state thronged the major streets of Osogbo, the state capital to celebrate Buhari’s victory in the presidential elections.
The procession which started from the government house with thousands of broom-waving crowd and Buhari Leekansi flag carriers spontaneously gained much momentum as many including commercial bus drivers and Okada riders joined the governor as they moved from the popular Oke Fia roundabout to Olaiya juntion, passing through Isale Osun to bye pass the Ataoja’s palace, all through to the Ajegunle market before halting at the Nelson Mandela Freedom park.
The supporters expressed confidence that the APC’s victory will continue to bring positive changes to all the nooks and crannies of the six geo-political zones for economic bouyancy and it would surely take the country to the next level.
The large crowd of supporters especially passersby danced to lyrical songs of the performing artiste singing “Sai Buhari, Sai Baba” , Buhari next level” , the slogan of the All Progressive Congress.
Addressing the jubilant crowd at the Park, Governor Oyetola thanked his people for voting for President Muhammadu Buhari and all the senatorial and house of representatives candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in last Saturday’s election, this is a symbolic proof that Osun is APC and APC is Osun, he said.
The Osun State Governor said the state would continue to benefit massively from the Social Investment and infrastructure initiatives of the Federal Government. We shall always partner with the FG to get the best for you, for our people and for the development of our state.
The governor, who congratulated the President and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) added: “This is a renewed hope for Nigerians. I feel great and very happy that President Buhari has been re-elected. This victory depicts that our President has done very well in all areas of human endeavors.
“This victory also shows that our party remains the people’s party. It shows that our government and our party remain the choice of Nigerians.
“The wide margin of victory shows that people appreciate President Buhari. It shows that he has championed the cause of the masses through his social investment programmes.
“Today is also significant in the history of this state as it marks three months of my inauguration. “We remain resolute to bring to our people the best they deserve. That is why we have been working round the clock to ensure that every household receives the dividends of democracy.
“The re-election of our president will help to consolidate on his good works – the diversification of the economy, fight against insurgency, anti-corruption crusade and economic rejuvenation, Oyetola said. He however urged the people of the state to come our en-masse come March 9th and vote all APC candidates for the state house of assembly to continue to enjoy rapid development.
Speaking, the former Commissioner for Science, Innovation and Technology and presently the Supervisor, Ministry of Works , Oluremi Omowaiye expressed appreciation to the people of the state for voting the president and all other APC candidates during the poll.
Omowaiye who assured the people of the state and Nigeria at large of dividends of democracy said APC has been doing well in terms of welfare and infrastructure.
While subscribing Buhari’s victory as a well-deserved one, Omowaiye said the outcome of the election shows that President Buhari has done very well in his first four years and his victory gives hope for our democracy.
On the procession of the victory and appreciation rally was the Deputy Governor, Gboyega Alabi, Senator elect for Osun central, Ajibola Basiru, chieftains of the party in the state.
