Gov Yusuf Warns Kano Officials After Commissioner Resigns Over Drug Suspect Bail
Governor Abba Yusuf has warned public officials in Kano State to uphold ethical standards following the resignation of the Commissioner for Transportation, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi Dala, over his alleged involvement in securing bail for a suspected drug dealer.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Wednesday, the Governor expressed deep concern over the incident and reminded his cabinet members of the values expected under his administration.
The warning came during the 30th Executive Council Meeting held at the Government House, Kano, where Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fighting drug abuse, trafficking, and other social vices threatening the state.
“Let it be clear: we will not tolerate any conduct—official or private—that undermines the values we stand for. Every public official must be vigilant and responsible in their dealings. You are not only representing your office but the integrity of the entire administration,” the Governor said.
He stated that Namadi’s resignation should serve as a lesson to other appointees, adding that anyone unable to uphold the trust placed in them should voluntarily step down instead of engaging in actions that could tarnish the image of the government.
Governor Yusuf stressed that the campaign against drugs and harmful behaviour remains a priority for his administration and warned that anyone found aiding or participating in such activities would face legal consequences.
“We came into office with a clear mandate to restore sanity, integrity, and progress in Kano. That mission will not be compromised. I urge all appointees to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the values of this administration,” he added.
He reiterated his government’s commitment to justice, accountability, and service to the people of Kano.
