Governor Demolishes Senator’s House And Many More Headlines Today

 

Kaduna – The lingering crisis in Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, worsened yesterday after a building located in the heart of Kaduna city, belonging to a leader of one of the two factions, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, was pulled down by the state government. THE VANGUARD reports that Senator Hunkuyi, whose faction, last week, suspended Governor Nasir El-Rufai from the party, immediately accused the governor of instigating the action, saying the building was used as the campaign office for Governor El-Rufai and also as the state headquarters of the APC.

Again on the Kaduna demolision, Kaduna Govt. Demolishes factional APC Secretariat. Two days after a fraction of All progressive Congress(APC) in Kaduna State suspended the governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, the state government demolished the secretariat of the faction led by Mr Danladi Wada, in Kaduna. NIGERIAN TRIBUNE gathered that The demolision was executed in the early hours of Tuesday by the State Urban Planning and Development Agency (KASUPDA).

The faction, last week, had handed El-Rufai a six-month suspension over alleged anti-party  activities.

The APC’s “Restoration” Group promoted by the senator last Thursday queried El-Rufai and suspended three of his aides, including Special Adviser on Political Matters Uba Saani and commissioner for Fianance  Sulaiman Kwaru, for similar offences.

DAILY INDEPENDENT reveals that A statement signed by Ibrahim Husseini, Director-General, Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS), also said that the structure was brought down because ground rent had not been paid on it “since 2010”.

The Senate yesterday mandated its Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, to investigate comments credited to Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and nine others. Omo-Agege and nine senators had alleged that the re-ordering of the election sequence was done to target President Muhammadu Buhari, ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Milost Global, a New York based private equity firm is in Nigeria to close the acquisition of tier-two lender Unity bank plc, two sources familiar with the matter confirmed to BusinessDay. If a deal goes through for Unity, it would be the third investment made by Milost in 2018 alone, following the acquisition of luxury real estate player, prinewaterview limited for $1.1billion (N396 billion) and a $350 million facility for maritime service firm, Japul Oil.
