Governor Oyetola Seeks Support Of Residents Through Payment Of Taxes

 

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the State of Osun has charged indigenes and residents of the Land of Virtue to be committed to prompt payment of their taxes for the State Government to do more in the areas of infrastructural development and provision of social amenities to the populace.

The Governor stated this on Wednesday while playing host to the Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries in the State of Osun in his office in Osogbo, the state capital.

Governor Oyetola told his visitors that;
“We can’t continue to depend on Federal Allocation, we must continue to look inward and at the same time we are trying to avoid imposing too much burden on the people by way of taxes”

” Our people must support us by exhibiting great sense of commitment in the area of paying the little expected of them by way of taxes regularly so as have adequate resources to serve them optimally”.

Mr. Oyetola who equally stated that his administration is already in the process of appointing Permanent Secretaries which he maintained will be done soon, commended the retired egg heads of the State Public Service for being steadfast in their support for his administration.

In the area of Mining, the Governor said his administration is at present trying to sanitize the sector to stem the tide of illegal mining and environmental degradation which he established during his recent inspection of a number of mining sites across the state, maintaining that adequate regulatory mechanisms will be put in place through registration of miners and protection of the environment with a view to ensuring that the state benefits from its natural endowment by way of mineral deposits.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Forum, Chief Moses Inaolaji Aboaba told the Governor that members of his association were with him to congratulate him both on his election and the revalidation of same by the Supreme Court.

The First Secretary to the State Government and Head of Service in the annals of the state stressed that as stakeholders in the affairs of the Land of Virtue, they never for once doubted the fundamental veracity that the choice of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola is that of putting a round peg in a round hole.

The Association pledged their absolute loyalty to the present Gboyega Oyetola’s administration in the state, expressing utmost believe in his ability to take the state to an enviable height.

The State Helmsman who equally hosted the Forum of Retired General Managers, Directors General and Executive Secretaries led by Mr. Femi Olajide, implored them to come up with ideas that can be of great benefit to his administration.

The Forum through Mr. Olajide also pledged their total loyalty to the present Gboyega Oyetola’s administration in the Land of Virtue.

Present at the two separate meetings were the Deputy Governor, Mr. Benedict Gboyega Alabi, the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Charles Akindiji Akinola, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Abdullah Adeyanju Binuyo and the State Head of Service, Dr. Olowogboyega Oyebade.
