Governor Yahaya Bello Is A Democrat- Aide

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has been hailed for “strengthening democratic governance in Kogi State.”

Addressing journalists in Lokoja, the Director General on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Kingsley Fanwo, said the Governor is a “master of inclusive and democratic governance”, applauding the Governor for giving government back to the people.

“If anyone referred to the Governor as a totalitarian, it means the person does not understand the meaning of totalitarianism. Governor Yahaya Bello has been the most democratic Governor to have led the state. Some people are surely redefining totalitarianism to mean the failure of a leader to share the commonwealth of the people to a few.

“Governor Yahaya Bello recently signed the Budget of New Direction 2017 into law. The budget, in itself, is a product of the painstakingly drawn up New Direction Blueprint, which had the input of the Kogi people. Government went to each village and town to interact with the people and find out their needs.

“We have organized more town hall meetings than any government to incorporate the wishes and feelings of our people into our policies in just thirteen months.”

Fanwo said firmness and focus in leadership do not translate to dictatorship, saying the Governor will never shirk his responsibility of taking decisions that will salvage the state.

“The Staff Screening Exercise is a necessity that cannot be evaded if Kogi must rise from the ashes of underdevelopment. To develop Kogi State and grow our economy, we must have a functional civil service that is ready to help actualize our New Direction Agenda.

“We need to applaud the Governor for his political will to ignore political correctness and put the state first. After the exercise, Kogites will see the gains of our pains.”

He urged the people of the state to disregard what he called the “desperation of the enemies of the state who are staging campaigns of calumny against the government”, saying the Governor is clear about his determination to mend the state and make it an economic giant.
