A socio-political group, Osun Good Governance Forum (OGGF) has thrown its weight behind the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Presidential and legislative elections across the state.
The group said it has been convinced by the developmental programmes and policies of APC-led government at the Federal, State and Local Government levels to support the party to be victorious at all level during the elections.
According to a statement by the Coordinator of the group, Adebayo Abagun in Osogbo on Wednesday, electing President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for second term would guarantee consolidation of the ongoing effort in fighting corruption, build infrastructure, create job and fight insecurity in the land.
The statement said that electing the three senatorial candidates of the APC, Ajibola Basiru (Osun Central), Ajibola Famurewa (Osun East) and Adelere Oriolowo (Osun West), as well as the nine House of Representatives candidates of the party would go a long way in assisting Buhari to deliver on his consolidation agenda.
The group also said that electing the 26 APC candidates for the House of Assembly seats would make it easier for the Governor, Gboyega Oyetola to have a smooth relationship with the legislative arm of government and in turn guarantee development.
He described as shameful and worrisome, the frantic effort of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to return to power after spending 16 years and made Nigeria a haven of corruption, joblessness, underdevelopment and insecurity.
“As students of history, we were in this country, when billion of naira were being diverted to pockets of private individuals, when joblessness was the order of the day, when people could not sleep well because of insecurity under PDP administration in the country, but now, things have changed even though more still needs to be done.
“While we have been convinced by the efforts of President Buhari to correct the wrongs, we have seen that the senatorial and House of Representatives candidates of the APC are committed to consolidate the effort going by their records of service, at the state and National levels”.
“Though, there are still challenges to be tackled which the present government has shown commitment to, but it is clear that the PDP has no solution to it”, he stressed.
Abagun then urged the people not to allow themselves to be deceived by moneybag politicians to subject the country to backward state it was before the advent of Buhari’s administration.
