The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), State of Osun branch has emphasized the
need for the establishment of Public Relations Department for the proposed Osun Security Network, Operation Amotekun Corps.
According to the Chairman of the CDHR, Comrade Wahab Akinrinade, the PRO department would enable the security outfit to interface well with the people.
Akinrinade in an interview with OSUN DEFENDER yesterday said the department would help disseminate information on the activities of the corps to the public.
He said: “I see the security outfit providing a lasting solution to the spate of insecurity in some parts of the state and the entire Southwest region. I have gone through the bill and I have discovered that there was no provision for the office of the Public Relations Officer. Information dissemination is very essential to the acceptability of any organization today.
“The corps needs to enjoy a favourable image in the eye of the public for their services to be well appreciated. The department should be saddled with the responsibility of responding promptly and shed light on some of the activities of the outfit from time to time.
“The department should be furnished with equipment that will allow them carry out its duties effectively.”
