A gubernatorial hopeful in the state of Osun, Mr Olugboyega Alabi, has tasked the newly elected councillors across the 389 local governments, Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) and Area Council to strive to justify the confidence reposed in them by their constituents, through a people-oriented legislation and good governance.
Alabi, gave the charge in a congratulatory message to the new grassroots legislators in Osogbo.
The economist cum politician stressed that the fact that local government is the closest government to the people has made it mandatory for the council parliamentarians to bring the dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the masses.
BOA used the avenue to laud Governor Rauf Aregbesola for his rare ingenuity that led to the introduction of parliamentary system of government at the local level.
The Ikire born philanthropist urged the people to also play their part by ensuring regular payment of tax and other levies that would assist the government to perform its statutory functions effectively, as being done at the state level under Aregbesola, especially in the area of infrastructure development across the nooks and crannies of the state
This same effort, he pledged would be consolidated by him when he becomes the governor of the state later this year.
Alabi, who urged the new councillors to key into the six-point integral action plan of the Aregbesola administration, then wished them a successful tenure of office.
