According to DSP Abdulkarim, “We are yet to ascertain the number of lives lost in the incident, which occurred at about 4pm on Sunday in the remote village.”

The attack was reported by Babagana Goni and Bako Ibrahim, both residents of Mafa, to the Tarmuwa Divisional Police Station.

The terrorists also distributed flyers with Arabic inscriptions during the attack, which has raised concerns about the level of organization and planning behind the incident. “The terrorists also killed many people, but we are yet to ascertain the actual number of the casualties,” DSP Abdulkarim said.

This is not the first time that Boko Haram insurgents have attacked communities in Yobe State, and the latest incident has raised fears about the security situation in the region.

The attack on Mafa village comes just days after an attack on Faudiya School in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State, which resulted in the deaths of at least three students.
