Suspected gunmen have invaded the residence of Chairman of the Federal University of Gusau chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ( ASUU) Mr Abdurrahman Adamu.
It was gathered that the incident, which occurred on Wednesday morning, led to the abduction of at least six persons, including Adamu’s neighbour.
The gunmen, who invaded the chairman’s home in Damba Quarters, an outskirt of Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, were reportedly shooting sporadically before whisking the victims away to an unknown destination.
The ASUU leader, who confirmed the incident revealed that his younger brother, a niece, a nephew, and younger sisters of his two wives were all abducted during the incident.
While affirming that his relatives had been kidnapped, he explained that the assailants met no resistance. He added that the police arrived at his home this morning, asked a few questions and left.
It was gathered that the ASUU Chairman did not sleep in his house on Tuesday night when the assailants raided the apartment.
Efforts by newsmen to reach the Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammed Shehu for comment were unsuccessful as of press time.
