Panic gripped the community of Ilisan Remo on Thursday evening as unknown gunmen abducted Mrs Elizabeth Uruakpa, a 66-year-old Assistant Chief Nursing Officer with the Babcock University Teaching Hospital.
Mrs. Uruakpa was reportedly returning from an evening church service when the assailants, who had laid an ambush, struck near the entrance of her residence behind the new Ilisan market.
Witnesses told PUNCH that the gunmen swiftly dragged her out of her vehicle and forced her into their red Toyota car before speeding off.
A resident who spoke on the condition of anonymity told PUNCH that, “It happened around 7 p.m. She was just returning from church when the gunmen abducted her. I know her well; she’s a senior nurse at Babcock University Teaching Hospital and a member of Winners’ Chapel. They took her away like lightning, it was shocking, and such a thing has never happened here before.”
