Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped a former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Takai Shamang.
It was gathered that Shamag, who also served as the President General of the National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers, now known as the National Union of Electricity Employees, from 1982 to 1989, was reportedly whisked away from his native place, Biniki, located in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
Shamang, who is 78 years old, was also the President and Founder of the Gantys Aid for Widows, Orphans, and Needy Foundation, better known as the GAWON Foundation.

Confirming the incident, his daughter, Grace Abbin mentioned that her 78-year-old father was kidnapped from his home in Biniki around 8:00 pm on Friday.
She noted that the assailants broke into her father’s residence and forcefully took him into custody.
According to her, the authorities in Kaduna State were investigating the incident, and efforts were underway to secure his release.
“The community and family members are appealing to the public for any information that could aid in his safe return,” she told Daily Trust, adding that the family, friends, and well-wishers of Comrade Shamang remain hopeful for a positive resolution and his safe return home.
