The Assistant Controller of Corrections of the Niger State Correctional Centre Minna, ACC Abdulrahman Ibrahim Gelele, has been kidnapped by gunmen.
This was confirmed in a press release made available to journalists Thursday evening in Minna by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSC Rabiu Mohammed Shuaibu (CPRO).
The statement stated that ACC Abdulrahman Ibrahim Gelele was kidnapped on April 17, 2024.
CPRO Shuiabu said the officer was abducted along the Ilorin-Minna road when he was coming back from Ilorin on vacation.
The incident has been shrouded in secrecy with the belief that he will regain his freedom soon but after over a week, it has become the talk in the headquarters of the Centre.
The statement says that the kidnappers made contact with the family of the victim once and, since then, have cut off all communication with either his office or the family.
The statement stated further that the Controller of Corrections, Nigerian correctional service, Niger State CC. Mohammed Hamisu Isa fdc, “On behalf of the officers and men of the command, solicit your prayers for his safe release and freedom from the captives, please”.
