The two indigenes of Ora-Igbomina, Sunday Oyekanmi Adeyeye (Tayese) and Sunday Busayo Adewumi, who were abducted from their residence on February 1, 2026, have been released.

Their release was confirmed by the Asiwaju of Ora-Igbomina, Yemi Farounbi.

In a statement personally signed by him, Ambassador Farounbi expressed deep gratitude to God for their safe return after four weeks in captivity.

He described their freedom as a huge relief to their families and the entire Ora-Igbomina community, noting that their abduction period was filled with anxiety, intense prayers, and widespread concern.

He praised the courage and endurance of the victims and appreciated the overwhelming support, solidarity, and prayers offered by community members at home and in the diaspora.

“Although several millions of naira were paid as ransom, along with a motorcycle and mobile phones, we give thanks to God that they are alive and back with us safely,” he stated.

Ambassador Farounbi also acknowledged the contributions of security agencies and concerned individuals who worked discreetly to secure the victims’ release. He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with security authorities to improve safety within the community.

He concluded by urging sustained unity, faith, and collective responsibility in protecting lives and property, emphasising that safeguarding Ora-Igbomina is a shared duty.
