The Federal Government has once again urged Nigerians to endure the prevailing economic hardship, insisting that the painful sacrifices being made are necessary for the country’s long-term stability and prosperity.

Speaking at the fourth edition of the 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing Series in Abuja on Thursday, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, justified the tough economic conditions, stating that meaningful reforms always come at a price.

“Across the world, history has shown that meaningful reforms are never easy; they demand sacrifice, resilience, and a commitment to long-term progress. The initial pains that often accompany these changes are the necessary price for a more stable and prosperous future,” he said.

Idris, who was addressing journalists alongside the Ministers of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Education, and State for Education, claimed that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is working tirelessly to ease the burden on citizens.

He, however, urged Nigerians to exercise patience, as the economic policies of the government would soon yield positive results.

“We have crossed the Rubicon, and the pains are gradually easing as the positive impact of these reforms begins to take shape. Already, we are witnessing a marked reduction in food prices, stability in exchange rates, and a gradual decline in the cost of petroleum products,” he asserted.

OSUN DEFENDER reports that his remarks come at a time when millions of Nigerians are grappling with the rising cost of living, inflation, and widespread economic hardship.

Across the country, citizens continue to lament the unbearable cost of food, transportation, and basic necessities, despite repeated government assurances of improvement.

However, the minister instead praised Nigerians for their patience and resilience, urging them to endure even more sacrifices.

“I want to sincerely appreciate Nigerians for their patience, perseverance, and unwavering belief in the President’s vision. These reforms are not just well-intentioned, they are essential for the growth and development of our nation,” he stated.
