Students of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, are appealing to the public for urgent support to save the life of Babalola Regina Abosede, a 100-level English Language student battling chronic kidney disease.

‎In a statement released by the National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS) on Thursday, signed by the Association’s President, Comr. Adedibu Mustafa; and General Secretary, Hassan Lateef, the students call for immediate financial assistance to help fund a ₦40 million kidney transplant required to save Regina’s life.

‎Regina’s health condition has forced her to suspend her academics, with doctors stating she has just days left to raise the full amount needed for surgery. As of the last update, only ₦1,311,350 has been raised, leaving a shortfall of over ₦38 million.

‎In the statement, NAOSS described Regina as a bright young student with a promising future whose life is at risk without immediate medical assistance.

‎The association appealed to kind-hearted Nigerians, public figures, and organizations to donate and help provide the urgent support she needs.

‎“No amount is too small, every donation brings us closer to saving her,” the statement emphasized.

‎Also, the National Association of Students of English and Library Studies (NASELS-OAU) had earlier released a statement urging the public to move beyond good intentions and act.

‎“This is no longer just a call for empathy. Our actions or inactions can be the defining catalyst to a fellow student’s survival or otherwise,” said Oyebode Abdul Malik, the association’s General Secretary.

‎The statement, signed by Adio Favour Oladimeji, the president of the Association further stressed the urgency of the situation, noting that the fight to save Regina’s life is a shared responsibility that cuts across students, alumni, and the wider Nigerian society.

‎“Let your compassion move from intention to action. Share. Donate. Speak up. Be the reason Regina survives,” Audio said.
