Henry Boyo: A Great Loss
The transition of the noted economist and contrarian, Henry Boyo is a great loss to intellectual life and progressive thinking in our country. For decades, Boyo showed far sightedness as well as intellectual honesty in spotting the paradox between Nigeria earning humongous amounts of dollars from the sale of crude oil and rising poverty. He was a humanist who was very perturbed about rising poverty and the erosion of the standards of living of the majority. His foreboding about the overall drift of the nation’s monetary policies and the management of its exchange rates should have been heeded.
Ironically and mercifully in a few weeks to his sudden death, the forum of Nigeria’s Governors adopted one his key positions which is that the revenue allocation to the States should be giving directly in dollars. It had taking decades of lost opportunities to get to that point. We urge the state governors to hold on tenaciously to this position.
With his demise the republic has lost a great store of knowledge and a patriotic spirit. May his enquiring and noble soul rest in well earned peace.

Kudos To Adelani Baderinwa
THE honour of award of excellence giving to AdelaniBaderinwa by the Ekiti State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists was very well merited. Baderinwa is a brilliant, consummate professional and a man of very high ethical standards. He is also quiet and self – effacing which means that he might have been overlooked. We are thrilled by the recognition which is a pointer to the fact that “Adelani” still has a lot to offer. Kudos!
