Hijrah 1447: Adeleke Declares Public Holiday, Felicitates Osun Muslims

As Muslims across the globe mark the commencement of the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1447, the Osun State Government has declared Friday June 27 as Public Holiday.

This is contained in a government announcement signed by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Alhaji Rasheed Aderibigbe, sighted by OSUN DEFENDER on Thursday.

In the meantime, Governor Ademola Adeleke has extended his warm greetings to the Muslim faithful within and outside the state, urging them to embrace peace, justice, and unity in their daily lives.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke described Hijrah as a time for deep spiritual reflection, renewal of faith, and a reminder of the Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) migration, which he said stands as a symbol of sacrifice, perseverance, and divine guidance.

“The Hijrah reminds us of the strength found in unity, the courage to stand for truth, and the grace of peaceful coexistence,

“Let us use this sacred moment to recommit ourselves to building a more inclusive, compassionate, and harmonious society, where our diversity becomes our greatest strength,” the statement quoted the Governor as saying.

The governor commended the Muslim community in Osun for their unwavering contributions to the progress and stability of the state, lauding their discipline, devotion, and dedication to service.

He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting religious freedom and promoting equitable governance for every resident, regardless of religious or cultural background.

“I wish all Muslims a blessed and fulfilling Hijrah 1447. May this new year bring peace, progress, and divine favour to every household,” Adeleke added.
