Hoodlums Disrupt Election, Assault INEC Officials In Ondo (Video)

Hoodlums have reportedly invaded a polling centre in Ogbagi Unit 19, Ward 6 of Akoko in Ondo State disrupting the conduct of the ongoing election and beating up officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission on duty.

According to a video seen by Osun Defender on X, the Presiding Officer of the unit, Bakare Ronke Mary said the hoodlums invaded the centre after she called for the arrest of a Peoples Democratic Party agent who tore up a vote without her consent.

In the video, presently trending online, torned ballot papers were seen scattered on the ground including the cover of ballot boxes.

According to her: ” My name is Bakare Ronke Mary. The Presiding officer of Ogbagi Unit 19 Ward 6. An agent who tore up a vote without my consent. I was trying to address him when he was directing me on how to do my work. The kabiesi (traditional ruler) of the community appeared and try to resolve the issue but he tried to tore another vote when the officers at the polling unit called the DPO for his arrest. They asked me what I want and I said he should be removed or the centre will be cancelled. He was arrested and the election proceed (sic).

“But all of a sudden a gang of hoodlums bombarded us and started packing the electoral materials and they beat us up. They beat myself and my APOs even up till now I have not seen my APO 1. Our phones have been stolen with our purse(sic). All the electoral materials have been destroyed except the BVAS which i escaped with. Before they bombard (sic) us, I call (sic) the DPO, after that i know nothing(sic) except revived by grace”. she explained.
