Some political hoodlums on Sunday morning reportedly laid siege to the house of former Chairman of Osogbo South Local Council Development Area, Hon. Abdulhakeem Olaoye Otaoroju, in Osogbo, State of Osun.
The hoodlums, according to Otaoroju, made attempt to force their way into his house located at Ilesa Garage area, Oke Ijetu, Osogbo, around 3am on Sunday.
He said the suspected political thugs struggled to destroy the entrance gate and attempted to pull-down the perimeter fence when they couldn’t scale it because of the electric wires on it.
Olaoye who is a staunch supporter of the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, said he contacted the Chairman of Landlords Association of his community, known as Mr Ebiri, to report the situation to him as it was happening for assistance.
He said Mr Ebiri swung into action and mobilised vigilantes to dislodge the hoodlums.
He said: “On the Eid Kabir day, Saturday, some strange faces entered my compound. They were hoodlums who I did not know. They asked that I give them money and meat which I did and they left after that.
“At the evening of that day, some of my people enjoined me not to sleep in my house. They said they had intelligent report that the government was planning to attack me. I dismissed that report. But around 7pm, my mind was troubled and I eventually heeded the advice not to sleep in my house.
“Around 3am on Sunday, my wives called to inform me that some people were struggling to enter our compound. They told me the thugs were attempting to pull-down the fence. I encouraged them to be calm, while I report the case to the Chairman of Landlords Association of the community, Mr Ebiri.
“Mr Ebiri swung into action and mobilised vigilantes to the house. The hoodlums had to flee.”
