Senator Rochas Okorocha has finally been arrested by officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, after hours of siege to his Maitama residence in Abuja.
The senator representing Imo west had earlier declined arrest, insisting that he will not submit himself to the anti-graft agency without a warrant.
But the officers of the EFCC eventually broke in through the main entrance of the ground floor of the duplex, before eventually arresting the senator.
The Ex-Imo Governor was whisked away by EFCC operatives, who shot sporadically to disperse a crowd of supporters who had come to show solidarity with the Imo Senator.
Earlier on Tuesday,, Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC’s spokesperson, said they were at the house of the Senator in order to bring the former governor to stand trial before a federal high court in Abuja.
Okorocha is a presidential aspirant of the APC and was on his way to attending the screening of the party before the incident.
